At Kite & Key Dentistry®, we focus on keeping our patient’s smiles healthy with preventive care in Ridley Park and Folsom. With regular six-month oral exams and teeth cleanings from Dr. Julia Winter, you can ensure you get the preventive care you need to keep your teeth strong and healthy.
Preventive care is the best way to save time and money on dental care, and ensure that your mouth stays healthy. By identifying oral health problems like tooth decay and gum disease early, Dr. Julia can provide you with the care you need, minimize complications, and ensure you don’t have to spend a lot of time in the dentist’s chair.
Your appointment will begin with a teeth cleaning. After your mouth has been evaluated to determine the type of cleaning that will be needed, we will scrape plaque and tartar away from your teeth and gums, buff and polish your teeth with a high-powered brush, and floss to remove any remaining debris. X-rays may be needed if you’re a new patient.
Then, Dr. Julia will examine your mouth, identify any potential oral health issues with your smile, and discuss any next steps you need to take to keep your teeth healthy.
Fluoride treatments involve applying a fluoride varnish directly to your teeth. Fluoride has the unique ability to attract minerals that strengthen your tooth enamel. This keeps your smile healthy and reverses the effects of minor tooth decay.
Dental sealants consist of a specialized plastic resin that is applied directly to your teeth to prevent cavities. This transparent resin is applied in liquid form, then is hardened using UV light. This creates a barrier that protects your enamel from bacteria, acid, and food particles, which can prevent cavities from forming for up to 10 years.
Scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) is used to treat the first stages of gum disease. It’s done in two appointments, with one half of your mouth cleaned at each appointment. Dr. Julia will scrape plaque and tartar away from between your teeth and gums, and smooth the roots of your teeth to eliminate bacteria. Along with antibiotics, this can resolve most cases of gum disease.
During your six-month oral exam and teeth cleaning, Dr. Julia will check your mouth for abnormalities and signs of oral cancer, providing you with the peace of mind you deserve. In the rare case that you need further diagnosis, you’ll be able to get help immediately, ensuring the best possible outcome.
